Counselling Sessions
'Truly he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.'
A typical biblical counselling session through Rock and Refuge Counselling will be an hour long, often held on Zoom or in-person in the counsellors home if feasible. We aim to provide a relaxed and informal environment where counselees feel comfortable and safe to share honestly. Your counsellor is trained in both Scripture and counselling, however, they are not a licensed psychologist or licensed professional counsellor. We offer an initial session to see if it is a good fit to help you, giving an opportunity to ask any questions which is free of charge.
Sessions are £25 for individuals and £30 for couples. This can be paid by bank transfer following the sessions.
For more information regarding appointment availability and an initial session, please contact us.
Community
We believe that for longer lasting change, God provides us with a community of believers through the local church. Our desire is to have a strong partnership with local churches so that every counselee is well supported by its leaders and the church family. In light of this, we encourage every counselee to have a ‘peer’, preferably from their own church in order to be further supported. And if possible, they might join sessions if that is what the counselee desires. In some cases, this may not be a possibility or necessary and so is not a requirement.
Confidentiality
We are very sensitive to the issue of confidentiality. To release counselling information without your consent would violate both biblical standards and commonly accepted codes of counselling ethics. There are situations, however, where it may be necessary for us to share certain information with others.
- When the counsellor believes that those receiving care could be in danger of harming themselves or others.
- When the counsellor believes that there is ongoing abuse taking place—i.e. sexual, physical, domestic, etc.
- When a child or vulnerable person reveals information that indicates any kind of abuse posing a danger.
- When the counsellor is ordered by a court of law to release the counselee’s information.
- When the counsellor seeks guidance and receives regular supervision to better care for those they are helping, they can discuss relevant information with ministry supervisors. In the case of supervision, the cases shall be anonymised.
- Details shall only be shared with church leadership after there has been discussion with the counselee.
Please be assured that we strongly prefer to keep personal information confidential and will make every effort to resolve issues as privately as possible. Before meeting, you will be asked to sign an agreement form in regards to the above.
